Babel is the display of the proposal to re-catalog the non-english books on the Central Multnomah County Library within the main body of knowledge of the Dewey Decimal Classification System . An exploration of how Western academies represented a negation of the postmodernist dream of mutual respect. The Project is a symbolic restitution action that aims to eliminate regional ethnic divisions to create a metaphor for the biblical story of Babel, in which humanity can dream for a moment in which all our knowledge and voices can be united to create better societies... but as the story of Babel is a dream condemned to fail by an authoritarian god.
